Members of Nantwich St Mary’s team of bell ringers who ring regularly on Sundays represented the South Cheshire Branch in the Chester Diocesan Guild’s annual 6 Bell Striking Competition at Poynton on Saturday 23 September.
They rang call changes and were placed third with 19 faults (only 1.5 faults behind the winning team) out of teams representing four of the five branches.
The band, shown in the picture (left to right from front to back) comprised George Basford, Mary Stanwell, Elvina Atherton, Nicola Basford, Edd Leetham, and Stefan Zientek, and almost certainly contained the two youngest ringers in the competition!
