ITEMS OF SPECIAL HISTORICAL INTEREST

The Library holds several items of special historical and antiquarian interest, which are listed in the catalogue in Section 9.
A fuller description of these items is given below.
1. ‘Clavis Campanalogia’. Authors W.Jones, J.Reeves, T.Blakemore.
Edition of 1766, original complete with covers, but put in protective red cloth binding (presumably by J.Wilde of Hyde, whose name is inscribed with date 1864 on inside front cover)
2. ‘Clavis Campanalogia’. Edition of 1788, complete with appendix in original binding and covers. Presented to the Library by his daughter in memory of Alfred Barnes
3. ‘Clavis Campanalogia”. Edition of 1796, original printing with appendix, but missing preface, which has been provided as photocopies by Cambridge University Library, and the whole bound by them in modern cloth covers
4. ‘Clavis Campanalogia’. Edition of 1796, published by R.S.Kirby as ‘New Campanalogia’, re-issued in facsimile in 1975, cloth bound, with an introduction by Cyril A.Wratten
5. ‘Campanalogia Improved’. Authors JD & CM. It is known that JD was John Doleman, but the identity of CM is unknown. We have a copy of the First Edition of 1702, complete with original covers
6. ‘Campanalogia Improved’. This is a copy of the 3rd Edition of 1733; it is mostly original text and with original covers, but with missing pages obtained as photocopies from Cambridge University Library, which are not bound in…

8. ‘Campanalogia Improved’. This is a copy of the 5th Edition of 1766, corrected by J.Monk, reprinted by ‘Bell News’ in 1887, and issued with a foreword by Harvey Reeves
9. ‘Campanalogia Improved’. This is a copy of the 3rd Edition of 1733, issued in 1983, in facsimile in cloth covers, with introduction by W.T.Cook
10. ‘Tintinnalogia’. Author F.Stedman. Text of 1688; we have a copy of the Reprint issued by Bell News in 1895, using modern printing and binding
11. ‘Change Ringing’. Author C.A.W.Troyte. We have a copy of the 4th Edition of 1880, in original covers, complete with prefaces to the 1st Edition of 1869 and notes to the 2nd & 3rd Editions, and also an incomplete and unbound copy of part of the 4th Edition

13. ‘Change Ringing’. Author W.Banister. We have the 3rd Edition of 1887 in original covers

18. ‘Campanalogia’. We have two copies of ‘The Shipway Reprint’, which was a re-issue in facsimile of the 1816 original, bound in cloth covers, and produced by ‘Bell News’ in 1886
