For over 400 years, change ringing has been a unique feature of the British soundscape. While most countries in the world have church bells, none are rung in Britain’s very distinctive fashion.

In the last 8 months, bellringing has been revived at St Margaret’s, with a team of 6 youngsters learning to ring together and making rapid progress. Word of our success has been spreading…

From time to time, groups of bellringers gather together to compete against each other, to see which band can create the most musical bellringing. Sometimes these competitions take place on 6 bells and sometimes on 8. There are even national competitions on 10 and 12 bells.

On October 27th, the Guild is running it’s first 10-bell striking competition – and it’s being hosted at St Margaret’s Church Dunham Massey from 11am until 2pm. The church will be open for refreshments for all this time. All are welcome to come and mingle with bell ringers from across Cheshire and North Wales, and to listen to what promises to be some outstanding bell music.
